Airport

Stockholm has four international airports, and all of them have good connections to downtown and the rest of the country. Stockholm-Arlanda is the largest airport in Sweden, and one of the most environmentally friendly airports in the world in terms of emissions targets.
Stockholm-Arlanda Airport (42 km north of Stockholm) is an important hub for both the Stockholm region and all of Scandinavia. There are also flights to Stockholm-Skavsta, Stockholm-Bromma and Stockholm-Västerås Airport. It’s easy to get to and from the airport by Arlanda Express train, Flygbussarna airport coaches, Airport Shuttle or taxi, while reducing the emissions caused by your trip through carbon compensation.

Public Transport

Transportation in Stockholm is efficient, convenient and safe. Moreover, Stockholmers protect their beautiful environment. As a result, many of the downtown buses run on environmentally friendly fuels such as ethanol. Stockholm Public Transport, SL, runs the buses, subway, commuter trains, trams and some of the ferry lines in Stockholm county.
Travelling by the Stockholm subway system is the easiest way to get around town. The Stockholm subway is also called the longest art exhibit in the world, since many of the stations are richly adorned by various artists.
Stockholm is divided into three zones, and the zone tickets are valid for multiple trips within one hour. Tickets can be purchased at the SL Center, subway turnstile booths, Pressbyrå shops, ticket machines or by SMS. You can’t pay cash for tickets on the buses in Stockholm. Most bus stops have ticket machines that accept both coins and cards.
A punch ticket is the best choice if you’re not making many trips. Buying a 1- 3- or 7-day card is also a good solution. These give you free travel in all zones during their validity period.

Taxi

Travelling in Stockholm by taxi is easy and convenient, and there are many taxi companies to choose from. Licensed taxis with taximeters always have yellow number signs. Meter prices vary widely depending on the time of day, however it shouldn’t cost more than SEK 300 to travel 10 kilometers.
The large taxi companies have fixed prices for the trip to and from Arlanda Airport, varying between SEK 450-500. Always confirm with the driver before the trip. Most of the large companies have a presence at every airport. Many of the taxis run on environmentally friendly fuels such as ethanol.
