Gothenburg - Do & See

In Gothenburg it is easy to enjoy the cultural amenities while simultaneously experiencing the sea, the parks and the city’s pulse. Tips: buy a "Göteborg City Card" which gives you free entrance to several of the best sights, and lots of other benefits.

Åbybadet

Åbybadet has water activities for the whole family. The 50-meter pool in Åbybadet is a good place for swimming and has a separate play area with a diving board and floating toys. The jungle contains small paddling pools, mini slides, toys and animals that are pouring water. If you’re into relaxation, Åbybadet has a nice sauna, jacuzzi and a warm water pool.

Gothenburg Botanical Garden

Scandinavia’s largest botanical garden offers exhibitions and activities year round. Enjoy our award-winning rock garden with its waterfall. In the greenhouses you will find Sweden’s largest collection of orchids. The main exhibition this summer is called “Desert Life” and is all about cacti and other succulents. At the Garden you will also find a shop and restaurant. Daily guided tours 1/7 -12/8.

The Avenue

It attracts visitors like a magnet—Sweden’s most famous street. The Avenue is the Champs Élysées in a city of half a million inhabitants. Haga

Haga, the city’s oldest "suburb," is a small town in its own right. Along Haga Nygata are several second hand shops, antique shops, fashion and interior design shops right next to restaurants and cafés. Strolling the cobbled, narrow streets between the wooden houses, takes you back at least a hundred years in time.

Liseberg

Slottsskogen

Gothenburg has fantastic parks. In Slottsskogen you can have a picnic or visit the children’s zoo. Perhaps a whole national soccer team will come running past as you stroll along... The Botanical Garden, a short walk from Linnéplatsen, offers plant species from all over the world. There is a nice café on the way to Vitsippsdalen where you can stop for a while. Free entrance.

Älvsborgs Fortress

Construction of the fortress, which was of such importance during the Nordic War of the early 1700’s, started in about 1650 at the mouth of the River Göta. The Älvsborgs Fortress is one of the most popular sightseeing destinations on the west coast.
