The oldest patisserie in Copenhagen is La Glace which was founded in 1870. Café Europa is halfway along Strøget, the main pedestrian shopping street, in an area with many other cafés. It is a good place to sit and people-watch.

Right opposite Café Europa is Café Norden. It is a large, traditional café that also serves brunch. The breads and pastries come from Illum, the department store close by, meaning high, consistent quality. It is a good place for those who like classic café surroundings.

Café Zirup is in Læderstræde, the narrow shopping street parallel to Strøget in the city centre. The menu is rather more ambitious than in other cafés, and there are dishes from many world cuisines.

The Laundromat Café is no ordinary place. As well as being a coin-operated launderette, it is also a café so you can have coffee, cake or just read your book while your laundry is spinning round. It is a popular place for locals.
