Bali - Eating

Denpasar has its share of functional warungs (basic Indonesian eating places). For the best of Balinese and international cuisine however, take a taxi to Seminyak or Kuta. Some of the best western, Asian and international food is to be found in the restaurants of the major resort hotels, which offer a wide choice of alternatives.

Tiara Dewata Food Center

One of the cheapest places to eat in Denpasar, with dozens of stalls serving almost 200 different Indonesian and Chinese dishes.

Jp’s Warung

This affordable eating place offers an international menu and is open all day, with live music most evenings after 21.00. It is also a great spot for breakfast.

Reasonably priced international and Asian dishes are served in relaxed surroundings in one of the busiest nightlife areas, locally nicknamed ‘Bar Street’ – for obvious reasons.

Ku De Ta

Highly rated by expats and visitors alike, with a menu that accentuates modern Australasian styles, along with Indonesian influences, Ku De Ta is one of the most stylish spots in Seminyak. The open plan restaurant is light, breezy and open all day. It’s so popular that booking is recommended.

Gado Gado

As the name implies, the emphasis here is on Indonesian dishes, but the cuisine and the surroundings are a lot more sophisticated than the average warung. Gado Gado was formerly a club, but has recently been renovated as a stylish restaurant and its beachside location is practically unbeatable.
